Text Box: Unless you are familiar with Birmingham it will probably be easiest to approach the Red Lion from the M42. Leave the M42 at exit 3, signed Birmingham South A435. Proceed into Birmingham (about 3 miles of dual carriageway, a roundabout, then about 1 mile of single) until you come to the first actual traffic lights (there are several pedestrian lights on route). You then turn left into Howard road (A4040). Note Birmingham has a clean air zone around the city centre (including all simple exits from the A38(M)) and unless you are exempt you will be charged (check for exempt vehicles on the city web site). On arrival at the Red Lion enter your car registration at the bar. The pub has a system to deter non-visitors from parking! The Red Lion has parking for around 80 cars. If that is full there is plenty of on-street parking nearby. Turn left out of the car park; then left and left again.
