Red Lion Folk Club Wednesday Nov 15th |
The Rabbitts with Kate & Carl |
We are delighted to welcome a new duo, The Rabbitts, to the club and were blown away by their music A Norwich based indie folk band 'The Rabbitts’ are acoustic at heart but experimental in nature; they set out to avoid the well trodden path and instead define their own unique sound with creative harmonies, fingerstyle guitar arrangements, epic mandolin solos, and an intricate yet impactful rhythm section. In 2016 they wrote the song ’Avocado Ginger Tree’ and realising they had something special and unique to share they moved to Canada and into a rusty old van to save up for their debut album ‘Tall Pines & Tangled Vines’, after which they embarked on a leisurely coast to coast tour of Canada. Their next EP ‘Seeking Shade’ was recorded whilst the couple were travelling around the UK and Ireland and delved deeper into previously explored themes of love and the natural world, but with a psychedelic twist. This remained the primary inspiration of their 2nd full length album, ‘Love’, which simultaneously embraces the sometimes abstract nature of their creativity. They will be joined by one of our favourite groups, The Twiddlers (unfortunately only Kate and Carl because of teaching commitments). They last autumn and we were absolutely enchanted by them. What can we say? The next folk super-group? - a lockdown project gone wild? Expect beautiful vocal harmonies, multi-instrumental carnage and traditional songs and tunes given a new lease of life with a lively and raucous performance. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear two exciting duos! |
