Many of you will remember Ray as Chopper in the Oysterband but in 2013 he decided to go solo and has never looked back. He moved to Sweden in 2000 to a small red wooden house close to the forest and the wild beasts. The love of winter, the Swedish fiddle tunes and the love of a woman took him there. ‘There is a melancholy to the music—it’s the blues of the north. It is home.’ This is folk but it’s never quite folk, with the inclusion of several trad tunes and songs as the listener is taken on a journey from the English countryside, to Flanders, Venice, Beirut, and even to the moon. You will not forget this evening! |

Kathryn Roberts & Sean Lakeman Plus Every Thread |

£14 |
Two of the British folk scenes most accomplished performers, Kathryn and Sean have graced stages the world over in a number of guises. However, the intimacy and strength of passion shown as a duo, combined with an eclectic repertoire ensures a rare treat for any listener. The Dartmoor-based husband and wife have twice won the coveted ‘best duo’ title at the BBC Radio 2 folk awards (2016 & 2013). Over two decades of performance they have never been trapped in a groove – always bold and innovative, mixing traditional song arrangements with their self-penned material which reels from the bitter to the sweet, the wry to the sad, the political to the passive. |

David Fisher walked into Evan C Ritchie’s barber shop for a haircut carrying the implements of his busking trade. Conversation revealed a mutual love of the traditional music of the ocean and the land, and the visit ended with a rousing rendition of Leave Her, Johnny and a promise to have a jam soon. Kings Heathens was formed, and the rest is history. Hailing from Milton Keynes and Texas respectively, adopted Brummies Fisher & Ritchie share a passion for Celtic and transatlantic folk, shanties and ballads. Expect rousing choruses, close harmonies and homages to Stan Rogers. |

Truck Stop Trixies are a cabal of Malvern musicians who play together at random times throughout the year. At the heart of the group is the partnership between Tyler Massey, originally from West Virginia—his 2017 ‘American Njghtmare’ is absolutely enchanting—and Vo Fletcher—a member of The Ric Sanders Trio, together with the other players as featured soloists. Mainly choosing to play Classic Americana from Gram Parsons, Bob Dylan, Gillian Welch, Lowell George and others. When we heard them at Westfest we could not stop dancing. |

We are absolutely delighted that Edwina has agreed to come to the Club. Her beautifully written songs, charming stage presence and voice of an angel have won her a reputation as a true natural talent of gentle folk-Americana. She has opened numerous shows for Jools Holland and Van Morrison as well as her own gigs playing stages from Glastonbury to the Royal Albert Hall. |
