Rack and Ruin

Some years ago folk guitarist and singer Mick Bisiker was asked to put an electric band together to play at a Midlands folk festival. At the time a fan of acoustic folk said as a joke: “Seems like Mick Bisiker has gone to Rack and Ruin” – and somehow the name stuck. The result is a Warwickshire based folk-rock five-piece band playing a mixture of loud and lively folk-rock: fiddle driven traditional songs and tunes and jigs and reels – with added saxophone. Their contemporary blend of lively folk rock, celtic, roots music is interwoven with foot-tapping jigs and reels that makes for an enjoyable and entertaining event.

The group consists of Mick Bisiker - vocals, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, mandola & bouzouki, best folk album award with Al Romanov for Bisiker & Romanov’ (1989); Jen Martin  - fiddle, backing vocals - originally a classically trained violinist who has now been playing in a folk fiddle style for many years with Warwickshire based folk rock trio Firedaze; Deb Gomme - alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, vocals, whistles, acoustic guitar; Chris Radket—bass guitar, vocals, also from Firedaze and Alex Scott - drums.
