For visiting artists
Information for performers
We're looking forward to welcoming you to the Red Lion Folk Club. This guide covers the practical things artists with a confirmed booking are likely to need before coming to Birmingham.
Your individual booking arrangements and the information agreed with your club contact always take precedence over this general guide.
Before you arrive
Finding us
The Red Lion, 229 Vicarage Road, Kings Heath, Birmingham, B14 7LY.
You'll find us in the pub's upstairs function room. Our Visit page includes directions and transport information.
Arrival and loading in
Please plan to arrive at 6:00pm and be ready for the 6:30pm soundcheck. Let us know in advance about bulky equipment or any special loading requirements so that arrangements can be confirmed.
Parking
There is parking at the pub. If you're using the car park, check the current signage and register your vehicle at the bar when you arrive.
Access
The club room is reached by stairs and there is no lift. If this or moving equipment upstairs presents a difficulty, please discuss it with us before the date so we can establish what is practical.

Merchandise
If you plan to sell CDs, records or other merchandise, please let us know ahead of time so we can discuss a suitable arrangement in the room.
Refreshments
The club provides complimentary tea, coffee, cakes and biscuits. The pub also serves meals; if you'd like to eat, we recommend booking a table in advance by calling 0121 444 2803 or through the Red Lion website. Please order early, ideally before soundcheck, and let the pub know when you'd like your food ready.
The Ember Inns app also offers a complimentary drink when you join, subject to the current offer terms.
Technical information
PA and sound engineer
We can provide the club's PA and sound engineer, or you can bring your own equipment and manage your own sound. Please agree which arrangement applies when booking; this also ensures any related costs or deductions are clear before the event.
Lighting
The club normally sets up and operates the performance lighting. Please let us know in advance if you have any particular lighting requirements.
Practical arrangements
Publicity material
Good-quality photographs, a short biography and links to your music are helpful for promoting the gig. Please send these to the club in advance.
Guests
Our usual arrangement includes one complimentary guest per booked performer.
Fees and payment
Performance fees, ticket arrangements and payment details are agreed individually as part of the booking. Refer to your confirmation for the terms that apply to your event.
Keeping in touch
Your booking contact will share the appropriate telephone details for the evening. If you're delayed or plans change, please contact them as early as possible. For other questions, email redlionfolkclub@gmail.com.
