Getting here

The Red Lion is in Kings Heath, about 4 miles south of Birmingham city centre.

By train

Pineapple Road station is around a five-minute walk from the Red Lion.

By bus

The nearest bus stops are Camp Hill Schools, approximately one minute's walk from the pub. They are served by the 11A, 11C and 35 buses.

The 11A and 11C form the Birmingham Outer Circle, while the 35 provides a direct connection from Birmingham city centre through Balsall Heath, Moseley and Kings Heath.

Bus routes and timetables can change, so please check your journey before travelling.

By car

There is parking at the Red Lion.

If you use the pub car park, please remember to enter your vehicle registration on the screen at the bar when you arrive, and check the current parking signage.

Access to the club room

The folk club meets in the Red Lion's upstairs function room. Access is by a flight of stairs and, unfortunately, the building does not have a lift.

We know that this means the room may be difficult or impossible to access for some visitors, and we want to make the situation clear before you travel.

If you are able to use the stairs but would benefit from priority or end-of-row seating, a little extra time to get settled, or another adjustment within the club room, please let us know. We will do what we reasonably can to make your visit comfortable.

For safety reasons, our volunteer team is not able to provide physical assistance to visitors going up or down the stairs. If you need physical support to use the stairs, that support will need to be provided by someone accompanying you.

If you are unsure whether the venue will meet your access needs, please get in touch before travelling. We will be very happy to answer questions and describe the room and access arrangements in more detail.

Food and drink

The Red Lion is a working pub serving food and drinks, so you are very welcome to arrive earlier and eat before the club.

Food service times and menus can change, so please check directly with the Red Lion if you are planning to eat.
